The Batman Chronicles – Part 2

Batman: Batshit Crazy Mad Scientist

“GOTHAM POLICE DECLARE WAR ON BURGLARIZING BATMAN” and “BATMAN INJURES NIGHT WATCHMAN” are just some of the headlines in the Gotham Gazette that Batman reads in the Batcave. Batman talks to Tim Drake.

Batman

Somebody’s setting me up. There were two burglaries in other pharmaceutical companies this week. Nobody hurt like last night, but chemicals stolen, just the same. Now that Poison Ivy and Dr Freeze are in Arkham Asylum, I can finally focus on clearing my name. I can also focus on dealing with other criminals.

GOTHAM UNIVERSITY – MORNING

Mr Zedno picks up a pink slip of paper on his desk and a stack of mail. Mr Zedno walks through Gotham University, stopping at the biology room and starts to knock on the wooden door.

Zedno

Doctor Langstrom. It’s me, Zedno

Doctor Langstrom

Who is it?

Zedno knocks more.

Doctor Langstrom

Who IS it?!

Doctor Langstrom opens the door just slightly, and looks out of the crack in the door suspiciously. Doctor Langstrom’s eyes hover up to Zedno’s dyed yellow hair which is very similar to Doctor Langstrom’s own dyed hair. Finally after a few seconds, Doctor Langstrom’s face relaxes.

Doctor Langstrom

Ah, it’s nobody, just the mailman.

Zedno hands some mail to Doctor Langstrom and begins to walk away, he then starts to talk to himself.

Zedno

You’re a NOBODY, Zedno. You’re a NOBODY who can’t do ANYTHING…not even DELIVER MAIL! Everything’s just too much for you, Zedno. The only way you’ll EVER do anything big is by becoming someone else. And tonight’s the NIGHT, Zedno. Faceless needs a FACE…even if the face is just a MASK!

Doctor Langstrom is still looking out the door suspiciously.

Doctor Langstrom

Damn, muttering mailman.

Doctor Langstrom closes the door to the biology room and locks it.

BATCAVE – NIGHT

Batman turns off the TV and talks to Tim Drake.

Batman

Four victims in one night, in quick succession, all actors. All four murders…were in West Gotham, a large area, all actors at the same set. You stay here.

Batman gets to the Batmobile and drives off.

WEST GOTHAM- NIGHT

Batman gets out of the Batmobile.

Batman

I’m too late. The fifth victim. Made faceless.

Five people appear with their face sliced off on the street. Walking slowly, almost trudging…Batman continues. Batman sees the silhouette of a man under a lamplight. The man turns the corner, out of sight. Batman walks faster.

Batman

Can’t let him get away into a crowd, can’t let him be another face in the crowd. Can’t drag my feet, not until he’s CAUGHT!

Batman chases Zedno, catches up with him before he brings him to the ground and uses Bat-Cuffs on him.

Zedno

Killing is the only thing I’m GOOD at..the only thing I’ve done that anyone’s noticed! And I can’t even take credit for it without being CAUGHT!

Batman

But you…you w-want to be caught?

Zedno

Of COURSE I do! I lost my JOB!

The sound of glass breaking is heard from far away. Batman dials a number.

Batman

Robin, I’m in West Gotham and there is a criminal in Bat-Cuffs, it’s Zedno. Please take Zedno to the police while I investigate another crime.

Robin

Got it

Batman hangs up and rushes towards where the sound of glass breaking was heard.

PHOENIX LABS – SAME TIME

A man steals vials of chemicals from the first floor. Batman enters the lab through the fourth floor and he drops down, scaring the man as he runs up the platform to the roof of the building. Batman runs up to the roof as he sees a large bat-like creature flying off before he sees a bunch of brown hair and broken glass. Batman collects the brown hair and broken glass before he heads to his Batmobile. Once he gets to his Batmobile, Batman drives off.

[Ad Break]

GOTHAM UNIVERSITY – MORNING

Bruce knocks on the wooden door to the biology room.

Bruce Wayne

Doctor Langstrom…It’s me, Bruce Wayne. I have an appointment.

Doctor Langstrom

Who? Speak up please!

Bruce Wayne

It’s me, Bruce Wayne!

Doctor Langstrom

Come in. Come in.

Doctor Langstrom, a man with dyed yellow hair, opens the door. Bruce shows Doctor Langstrom a bag of the brown hair he got from Phoenix Lab’s roof.

Bruce Wayne

Well, I keep hearing squeaks in my chimney, and I found these in my empty fireplace. They look like hairs. Since you’re a great friend of mine and you study animal biology, specifically bats, I thought maybe you could tell me if I have a bat problem.

Doctor Langstrom

IF it is a bat problem, I will know by tonight.

Doctor Langstrom grabs the bag, gets a slide, and begins to examine the hair under a microscope at his desk as Bruce leaves.

GOTHAM UNIVERSITY – MORNING

Doctor Langstrom dials a phone number.

Doctor Langstrom

You have bats, Mr. Wayne. Common brown bats. They shouldn’t pose a problem. As the weather gets colder, they’ll move on.

Bruce Wayne

Oh, ok. Dr Langstrom, since you are my truest and best friend, I will tell you what it is. It is hair from the “Man-Bat” that’s been burglarizing labs, I managed to pull some strings to get a sample. Could you run some more tests on the hair and help the police out?

Doctor Langstrom abruptly hangs up. Bruce gets his suitcase and wears the Batsuit.

GOTHAM UNIVERSITY – NIGHT

The lights are off and no sunlight comes through the building’s windows. Batman walks through Gotham University, stopping at the biology room and starts to pick the lock. Batman enters the biology room with a creak of the wooden door. Doctor Langstrom yells from the supply closet.

Doctor Langstrom

Who’s back there?…Ugh….can’t fight it….it’s got me. I knew I had discovered a serum to create new species. Now I am neither man nor bat! And once I started taking it, I couldn’t stop.

Doctor Langstrom walks out of the supply closet, he is drinking a green serum from a small vial. Doctor Langstrom’s teeth become sharper, his teeth become fang. Brown hair grows all across Doctor Langstrom’s body. Doctor Langstrom’s arms turn into wings which bust out of his white lab coat. Man-Bat flies at Batman, he cuts Batman’s chest with his sharp claws. Man-Bat throws Doctor Langstrom’s desk at Batman which pins him to the floor, allowing Man-Bat to crouch on it. Man-Bat flies out of a closed window, breaking glass, Batman attaches his grapple hook to Man-Bat’s foot. Batman slides from under Doctor  Langstrom’s desk. Man-Bat is weighed down by Batman, causing him to struggle to fly. Batman manages to get on Man-Bat by climbing up his grappling hook, Batman hits a right hook to the jaw of Man-Bat causing Man-Bat to fly down straight into a nearby building which knocks him unconscious. Batman puts Bat-Cuffs on Man-Bat as the scene fades to black.

Batman: Higher Breed of Animal

ARKHAM ASYLUM – MORNING

Doctor Langstrom

It’s called T-19. I originally planned on curing deafness but my research ended up developing a serum that creates new species. My serum is still not finished, the serum only lasts for a while before we transform back into this.

Bruce Wayne

We? What have you done?

Doctor Langstrom

I sold my serum to the wealthy. I made men what they always wanted to be, a higher breed of animal.

Bruce Wayne

YOU’VE MADE THEM MONSTERS!

Doctor Langstrom

I believe they would disagree. You can’t even begin to understand, being a higher breed of animal. I have given them power beyond their wildest dreams, heighten senses, increased speed, agility, strength. We are the ultimate lifeforms, superior to any human. Nothing will stand in our way, not Bruce Wayne or BATMAN! And I know you are both. As soon as I get out of here, I will show no mercy or pity to my best and truest friend.

Batman exits Arkham Asylum.

WEST GOTHAM

Summer Gleeson (V.O.)

Three robbers armed with shotguns stormed a bank, held employees at gunpoint. One of the robbers was a red fox-man. The second robber was a shark-man. The third robber was a vulture-man. The Terrible Trio got away in a silver car driven by the fox-man.

The scene starts with the Batmobile chasing a silver car. The silver car parks near Warren Lawford’s penthouse. Warren Lawford, Gunther Hardwick, and Armand Lydecker run out of the silver car as each of them carries a full brown bag. Warren, Gunther, and Armand run up the stairs to the roof of the penthouse. The three men put down their brown bags once they reach the roof. Each one of them starts to drink a green serum from a vial. The camera cuts to showing just Armand Lydecker, black feathers grow on his body before he quickly turns into a vulture-man, he screeches. The camera cuts to Gunther Hardwick as he becomes a shark-man with sharp teeth. The camera finally cuts to Warren Lawford as he becomes a red fox-man with sharp teeth. Batman runs up the stairs to the roof. The Terrible Trio turns to Batman.

Fox

Why are you trying to stop me? You know you inspired me, Bruce?

Batman

How do you know who I am? I inspired you?

Fox

It was obvious. A while ago Gunther, Armand, and I fell asleep after some gas was released but you were the first to wake up or “wake up” while the guy that released the gas was in Bat-Cuffs. And yeah, you inspired me with the whole “wealthy man by day, animal man by night” thing you got going on.

Batman

You don’t understand who I am. I stop criminals, you’re nothing but a bunch of criminals.

Fox

We were going to pay the bank back. Hell, I earn twenty-one million dollars in a year.

Batman

Then why did yo-

Fox

WE WERE BORED! This was the only thing we were good at, and we were good at it. Now we’ve outfoxed the Batman.

Vulture flies over Batman’s head as Batman blocks a punch to the chest by Shark, although Batman does tumble down the stairs of the penthouse. Batman runs back up the stairs to get to the roof. Vulture circles above Batman. Batman uses his grappling hook on Vulture’s beak and tosses him into Shark. Vulture gets up and flies straight at Batman but Batman knocks him to the left with a right hook. Shark charges straight at Batman going for a right hook of his own but Batman catches it using both hands. Vulture flies at Batman but Batman hits a spinning roundhouse kick. Batman gets on top of Shark but Vulture flies at Batman. Vulture picks up Batman using his talons and starts flying him away but Batman knocks them back to the roof with another right hook. Fox kicks Batman, before The Terrible Trio takes turns kicking Batman while he’s down. Shark hits a right hook. Batman crawls away to the edge of the roof. Fox backs Shark and Vulture away from Batman.

Fox

Fuck him, that’s it. I’m done, I promise. I’m done, that’s it. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I promise. I just believe in kickin a man while he’s down. God damn! I quit.

Fox backs away, only for him to turn around and line up for a punt kick. As he charges, Batman fires a grappling hook at Fox’s left foot just before he’s kicked off the penthouse roof. Fox is nearly dragged off the penthouse roof but he grabs onto Shark’s foot as Shark grabs onto Vulture’s foot. Vulture grabs onto the railing to the swimming pool on the roof. Vulture uses all the strength in his wing to pull the group onto the roof, stumbling and falling into the pool. Vulture panics, tries to fly out of the swimming pool but he can’t as the water weighs down his feathered wings. Shark dives into the swimming pool to rescue Vulture. Batman quickly uses Bat-Cuffs on Fox. After he is brought out of the swimming pool by Shark, Batman quickly uses Bat-Cuffs on Vulture. Batman uses Bat-Cuffs on Shark, attaching his wrist to the railing of the swimming pool. Some time passes and the serum passes through the systems of The Terrible Trio leaving them as just Warren Lawford, Gunther Hardwick, and Armand Lydecker. Batman dials a number. A little while later the police take Warren Lawford, Gunther Hardwick, and Armand Lydecker into the police car’s backseat. A car crash is heard from far away before the scene fades to black.

Batman: Rubbernecking and Clayfacing

Summer Gleeson (V.O.)

We’re following breaking news out of West Gotham. Matt Hagen is in critical condition after a horrific car crash. The B-list actor is believed to have been driving alone from the set of Second Skin when a drunk driver hit him coming from Gotham University. First responders are at the scene and already speculation is SWIRLING about Hagen’s role in the upcoming movie Second Skin. We know Matt Hagen is in the hospital right now, the doctor is trying to stabilize his condition. We expect an update tomorrow. Matthew Hagen is best known for his role as Clayface in the play The Terror. Hagen worked his way up the movie industry as a make-up artist, costume designer, visual effects artist, and finally a B-list actor after achieving success in Metamorphosis. Hagen is the lead actor in the movie Gangbusters that is now playing in theaters.

“MOVIE STAR MATTHEW HAGEN KILLED IN AUTO CRASH”, “MATTHEW IS DEAD”, “MATTHEW DIES IN DRUNK CAR CRASH”, “MATTHEW DEAD, COLLEGE STUDENT HURT IN SMASH”, “MAN OF A MILLION FACES DISFIGURED” are just some of the headlines in the Gotham Gazette that Batman reads in the Batcave.

HOSPITAL – NIGHT

A doctor facing the camera, in front of a Matt Hagen, as Matt Hagen faces away from the camera.

Matt Hagen

Mirror….

The doctor remains motionless.

Matt Hagen

MIRROR!

The doctor holds up a mirror to Matt. Matt’s face is full of cracks as he has two cracks on his right cheek, one goes down his right eye over where an eyebrow should be, one under his left eye, three down to his black bearded chin. Matt’s nose is also caved in.

Doctor

Mr Hagen, relax.

Matt Hagen

Don’t tell me to relax, idiot!

Doctor

Relax, I have this to work with.

The doctor puts down the mirror and gestures with both hands to a small white table that has a stack of containers with “Renuyu” on the label. The doctor opens one of the containers of Renuyu.

Doctor

I only need to use a tiny amount.

Matt Hagen

No, use it all on me. Use all of them on me.

Doctor

If you insist.

The doctor pours an orange cream from the container on the man’s face, before molding the man’s face like putty. The doctor opens another container and repeats the process as the scene fades to black

[Ad break]

The scene starts with Matt Hagen looking at his face, feeling it with his right hand.

Doctor

One container of Renuyu costs a small fortune, which is why we usually just perform plastic surgery but…

Matt Hagen

I’ll have the money, I’m a big actor after all.

Doctor

If you insist, although all the Renuyu that we used today will cost you an arm and a leg.

WEST GOTHAM – NIGHT

Orange clay appears on the side of a driving truck that’s being chased by the Batmobile. The clay forms into Matt Hagen before he gets on the roof of the truck and causes it to collapse. The clay quickly fills the inside of the truck. Matt Hagen puts the money in the back of the trunk into a brown bag. Batman hops into the truck. Matt Hagen swings his fist at Batman but Batman manages to dodge with little movement. Batman throws a right hook but his fist goes right through Matt Hagen as orange clay splatters from his guts.

Batman

Who are you? WHAT are you?

Clayface

I’m Clayface.

Clayface’s arm turns into dense orange clay before he hits a right hook that sends Batman tumbling out of the truck. Clayface gets on top of the truck as Batman gets up. Batman flips on top of the truck, evading another right hook by Clayface. Batman sweeps the legs from under Clayface but his legs turn into clay. Clayface hits a right hook followed by a backhand that knocks Batman off of the truck. Clayface escapes into the nearby subway station. The scene starts in the subway station as Clayface walks towards the camera. Batman stays in the shadows. Clayface turns his right hand into dense clay and swings a right hook, knocking out a few bricks from the nearby wall. Batman hits a dropkick, dropping Clayface with an awful thud. Clayface struggles to get up. Batman goes for another dropkick but Clayface turns his left foot into solid clay and kicks him away. Clayface turns his right hand into solid clay and swings another right hook. Batman hits a right hook of his own, spattering clay from Clayface’s lip. Clayface escapes into one of the subways followed by Batman. Batman kicks Clayface in the back, causing Clayface to slide across the subway’s floor.

Batman

I’m lucky there are no people in this subway because it’s so late. There’s a war now…between you and me, nobody else.

Clayface gets up, Batman backs away.

Clayface

You talk about a war. I’ll talk about what it costs! I don’t care who gets between us. I need the money. This Renuyu stuff costs me an arm and a leg.

Clayface submerges Batman in his clay but Batman presses a button on his golden utility belt. The Batsuit starts heating up, after a while Clayface is stuck in place. Batman moves inside of Clayface, causing Clayface to start cracking.

Batman

You need help.

ARKHAM ASYLUM

Matt Hagen is led to a cell in Bat-Cuffs by Batman but his hands turn to liquid clay as he escapes the Bat-Cuffs. Clayface turns around and swings at Batman twice but Batman dodges to the left. Clayface uses his right arm to pin Batman to the wall and submerge Batman again. Batman pulls a box of matches from his utility belt and strikes one of them. The match is lit causing smoke to trigger the water sprinklers. Water drops slowly turn Clayface to mud as he tries to make his escape. Batman removes his cape from his Batsuit and uses it to wipe up Clayface from the floor.

Batman

I can already tell you’re going to need a specialized cell just for you.

The scene fades to black.

Batman: Our Time Is Up

The scene shows Dr Quinzel, wearing a lab coat that displays her name tag over a green and purple sweater, walking through Arkham Asylum. Kite Man, The Mad Hatter, Antony Diego, Dr Freeze, Doctor Langstrom, Warren Langstrom, Gunther Hardwick, Armand Lydecker, Zedno, and Clayface are all in cells. Even some new inmates are in cells such as Edward Nygma, Fay Moffit, and Maxie Zeus. Dr Quinzel enters a room and sits at a desk. A few minutes later, Pam Lillian Isley enters the room in handcuffs before sitting in a chaise.

Harleen Quinzel (V.O.)

Being straight out of Gotham University, why would anyone work at a place as dangerous as Arkham Asylum? The simplest answer was that…well…the money was incredible. Arkham Asylum offered me a shocking amount of money to work as their therapist. Arkham Asylum had a tragic, and somewhat public, attempt at suicide by one of the inmates, and one of the ways the asylum addressed the incident was to hire me. I could support myself and my struggling boyfriend, a comedian, by working at Arkham Asylum so it wasn’t too bad.

The scene shows Dr Quinzel, wearing a green and purple sweater, at a desk and Pam Lillian Isley, in handcuffs, seated in a chaise.

Harleen Quinzel

Patient interview number one. It is November twelfth at eleven thirty AM. Good morning, Pam. How are you today?

Pam

I’m fine.

Harleen Quinzel

That’s good, not the usual response from inmates of Arkham Asylum. Would you like to discuss how you ended up here?

Pam

Yes. Of course, Jason Woodrue tried to murder me but he ended up doing me a huuuge favor. I repaid the favor by turning Jason into plant food for my babies. Right now I imagine Jason rotting away in some cemetery, decomposing, feeding my babies. It’s what he deserves. All people are nothing but fleshy sacks that tramble beautiful flowers underfoot….all people except you, Dr Quinzel.

Harleen Quinzel

Really? Thank you, and call me Harley…please.

Pam

If you insist.

Harleen Quinzel

I do.

Harley checks the clock, it’s twelve thirty AM now.

Harleen Quinzel

Our time is up Isley.

Pam leaves the room.

ARKHAM ASYLUM – MORNING – THE NEXT DAY

Maximilian “Maxie” Zeus enters the room wearing a straightjacket before he sits down in a chaise.

Harleen Quinzel

Patient interview number two. It is November thirteenth at eleven thirty AM. Good morning, Maxie. How are you today?

Maxie Zeus

It’s Zeus, you insolent fool.

Harleen Quinzel

So, Zeus, it says in your patient file that you suffer from Grandiose Narcissistic Personality Disorder…Tell me when you first started believing you were a god.

Maxie Zeus

I suffer from Grandiose Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Believing? Why I would incinerate ye with a bolt of lightning if it were not for this straightjacket.

Zeus wiggles in his straightjacket, grunting for a few seconds. Dr Quienzel sighs in disappointment or annoyance.

Harleen Quinzel

Let me rephrase that, when did you first realize you were a god?

Maxie Zeus

There was a time when I was clueless of my own divinity. I thought I was a mortal, like yourself, a mere history teacher. But when my wife died, that’s when I realized it, I was the god Zeus.

Harleen Quinzel

So a week ago you were brought in by the Batman.

Maxie Zeus

A spawn of Hades.

Harleen Quinzel

Is that so?

Maxie Zeus

Why he must have been sent by my brother Hades to destroy me. My brother Hades is always trying to destroy me, we don’t get along well.

Harleen Quinzel

I see. And umm..your brother Hades, where is he now?

Maxie Zeus

In Hades, of course, you fool. The underworld. Where else would he be?

Harleen Quinzel

Right, of course…….so as I was saying, you were brought in by the Batman after he busted your drug operation. You ran a vast criminal empire here in Gotham, believe it or not.

Maxie Zeus

Are you referring to my Elixir of The God’s?

Harleen Quinzel

Yes, of course. A hallucinogenic drug.

Harley checks the clock, it’s twelve thirty AM now.

Harleen Quinzel

Our time is up Zeus.

Maxie leaves the room in a straightjacket.

ARKHAM ASYLUM – MORNING – THE NEXT DAY

Edward Nygma enters the room in handcuffs.

Harleen Quinzel

Patient interview number three. It is November fourteen at eleven thirty AM. Good morning, Edward. How are you today?

Edward Nygma

I’m fine.

Harleen Quinzel

That’s good, not the usual response from inmates of Arkham Asylum. Would you like to discuss how you ended up here? Would you like to discuss your childhood?

Edward Nygma

Miserable.

Harleen Quinzel

By old accounts from Gotham University, that is when your obsession with riddles began. I believe that by discussing your childhood, we could explain your obsessive-compulsive behavior.

Edward Nygma

Very well. My father hated me and was very abusive to me, mentally and physically. My father always called me a moron and hit me. I was determined to prove my father wrong. I won, of course. With hindsight, I can see that me proving him wrong wouldn’t have changed a thing. My father would still be mentally and physically abusive to me if he were alive, he would have just justified it another way.

Harleen Quinzel

I’m sorry to hear that, Edward.

Edward Nygma

Don’t be. He’s dead now and I’m the smartest person in Gotham.

Harleen Quinzel

Even smarter than Batman?

Edward Nygma

Yes and I simply feel an obligation to expose him.

Harleen Quinzel

You know who he is?

Edward Nygma

Yes

Harley looks at the clock, it’s twelve thirty AM right now.

Edward Nygma

Batman may be called The World’s Greatest Detective but I have done some great detective work of my own. Dr Quinzel, you wear an oversized sweater…most likely from your boyfriend but it’s old. I detect that you are poor. Off the record, contact your boyfriend in getting us out of here so we can bring down Batman. We’ll take Batman’s wealth. Pull some strings, make a few phone calls to distract Batman.

The scene fades to black of a close up on Dr Quinzel’s face.

Batman: What Will You Do?

The lights are on and sunlight comes through the building’s windows. Batman and Dr Quinzel, wearing her lab coat, walk through Gotham University before stopping in front of an auditorium.

Batman

You wanted to talk to me, Dr Quinzel?

Harleen Quinzel

Yes, it’s about the university and more importantly….the students. It’s a tragedy what’s been happening to this university. Fights, burglaries, car crashes, death! Where will it end?

Batman

I read reports that chemicals from the biology lab here also went missing. Venom, the serums that Doctor Langstrom made.

Harleen Quinzel

Mmmhm. But that’s not why I wanted to talk to you. Clayface was on the loose, the students must have been psychologically tormented that Clayface might have destroyed the university.

Batman

Can I ask you a few questions about this?

Harleen Quinzel

Alright.

Batman

Do you have any idea why Clayface would have wanted to destroy the university?

Harleen Quinzel

As I said, there was a car crash, involving him and one of the students here at the university. From what I hear, the students were psychologically tormented, fearing that Clayface would get revenge. The students are in the auditorium right now if you want to see them. They need your protection, Batman.

Batman quietly enters the auditorium through the doors as he watches over the students.

GOTHAM UNIVERSITY – MORNING – A FEW HOURS LATER

A door to the auditorium opens. A man, wearing a black leather jacket and a gas mask, with completely white skin walks into the auditorium. The man has green hair and beard, “Unleashed” is tattooed on his forehead. The ventilation system slowly releases green gas. Within minutes the sound of three people banging on doors and screaming is heard. Soon enough all the students are pale. All the students are on the floor, one student suffers a nose bleed, another student starts drooling, all the faces of the students are twisted into a grin. Batman holds his breath. The man green hair and beard, Joker I, speaks from behind his gas mask.

The Joker I

I did it. I’m going to destroy the university and the Batman! I am the greatest criminal ever known! Hahahaha! And for Clayface to threaten to destroy the university and the Batman, well, he’s just unworthy.

The Joker heads toward the auditorium’s door.

The Joker I

If I escape while I can, there are a little more than sixty people in this room, you won’t have enough time to stop me and get them all out of this room before the effects of the laughing gas becomes permanent in ten to eighteen minutes. Think of each moment, holding this breath. Each minute, each decimal of a second.

Batman presses a button on his golden utility belt and his cowl turns into a gas mask.

The Joker I

Oh a gas mask…It seems I have underestimated the Batman. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! But at least I can escape. I want to see what you do, don’t disappoint. Will you let sixty people die?

The Joker escapes. Batman puts seven people on his shoulders, two in his right arm, and one in his left arm before carrying them out the auditorium. The scene fades to black.

[Ad break]

THE JOKER LAIR – NIGHT

The scene starts with The Joker at a desk as he sloppily writes in a notebook. Harleen, wearing a green and purple sweater, with dyed green hair jumps on The Joker’s desk before laying down on it.

The Joker I

Not now, Harley. I have to think of another comedic, genius plan to kill Batman since the gas attack didn’t work.

Harley Quinn

Why don’t you just shoot him?

The Joker scowls, raising a finger to Harley’s face.

The Joker I

The death of Batman must be nothing less than a masterpiece. The triumph of my sheer comedic genius over his ridiculous mask and gadgets. Shooting the Batman should be the last resort.

Harley Quinn

I’m hopelessly in love with a psychopathic clown.

Harleen Quinzel (V.O.)

Jack Napier was such a gentleman when I first met him. I loved him, my family loved him. I was his therapist and was immediately smitten. I adore him. Jack is smart, charming, charismatic, and funny. Jack is my Prince Charming and Mr J is my Clown Prince of Crime. I do think he loves me. I really want to marry him, settle down, have two children. It’s that Batman, it’s always BATMAN! If Batman wasn’t around, we could steal all the money from banks to make our dream come true. But now we can kill him and take his wealth.

Harley Quinn

Hmmm….what if we feed him to piranhas?

The Joker I

That could work.

Harley Quinn

Yeah, we hang him upside down so he sees all the piranhas frowns as little happy smiles and…

The Joker I

NO! NO! NO! If you have to explain it to me, if you have to explain the joke, IT’S NOT A GOOD JOKE!

The scene fades to a small Asian man beginning to dye his hair green while looking into a bathroom mirror. The small Asian man breaks out into a little dance as he sees himself in the mirror. The small Asian man then begins to wear white face paint. The small Asian man, Joker II, begins to wear an orange and red suit. The scene fades to a bald, tattooed man, beginning to wear white and blue face paint with black circles around his eyes. The bald, tattooed man, Joker III, begins to wear a white butcher apron. The scene fades to black. The scene fades to Batman getting The Batmobile when Batman’s phone rings and he answers.

Robin (V.O)

Batman, you gotta get to Arkham Asylum. Reports say that there’s gunshots.

Batman

I will get to Arkham Asylum.

OUTSIDE OF ARKHAM ASYLUM – NIGHT – SAME DAY

It starts raining. The Batsignal shines brightly in the sky, The Batmobile’s headlights shine brighter but not as brightly as the lightning that flashes in the sky. There are police cars with lights flashing all around and sirens wailing. The Batmobile continues to speed through the streets of Gotham towards Arkham Asylum.

Batman: The Inmates Run The Arkham Asylum

The Batmobile speeds through the gates that read ARKHAM ASYLUM. The sound of a man chuckling is heard over the speakers of Arkham Asylum. The scene cuts to red and black boots on a desk, a person watches on a monitor as Batman enters the main room of Arkham Asylum. A man in a bullet hole ridden security uniform lays on the floor. Batman runs through Arkham Asylum, passing more men in bullet hole ridden security uniforms. The Joker speaks over the speaker system.

Joker II (V.O)

Honey, I’m home. I held a party of a joyous nature to watch the guards be brutally killed.

Harleen Quinzel (V.O.)

 Come in puddin.

Batman opens a door. Inside the room is Kite Man, wearing green pants and a green jacket.

Next to Kite Man is Jervis Tetch, wearing a purple coat over a green sweater and a large black hat. Next to Jervis Tetch is Antony Diego and Poison Ivy. Next to Antony Diego and Poison Ivy is Dr Freeze in his cryo suit and Doctor Langstrom. Warren Lawford, Gunther Hardwick, Armand Lydecker, Zedno, and Clayface appear on the far right. Fay Moffit, a woman with pink hair, and Maxie Zeus, wearing a toga, appear in the back. Front and center are the three Jokers next to Harley Quinn.

Joker I

Surprise, surprise, Batman arrives just in the nick of time. Next time, you’ll be in time to stop us. But I can’t blame you for running late, Harley and I did distract you at Gotham University. HAHA! Gun.

The Mad Hatter hands The Joker his pistol. The Joker unexpectedly shoots The Mad Hatter in the chest, The Mad Hatter drops to the floor. The Joker turns the pistol to Batman’s chest.

Joker I

I’ll just shoot you and be done with it, that’s what Harley wanted me to do. This is the punchline that this entire night has been buildin up ta.

The Joker pulls the trigger, the bullet bounces off of Batman’s chest.

Joker I

Aww…you ruined my joke, I should have known you’d prepare a bulletproof vest if you prepared a gas mask. You’re such a party pooper, but you can’t ruin this party. This FAREWELL PARTY! Bane, break him.

Antony presses a button on his chest, tubes going through his black and white luchador mask to his head filling with the yellowish liquid of Venom. Slowly, Antony’s muscles grow. Bane charges Batman, lifting him over his huge frame with both hands, and slamming Batman back first onto his knee. A loud KRAKT sounds is heard  before Bane throws Batman through a brick wall. Batman lays on the floor, he struggles to get up but he can’t. Batman gets his phone and starts dialing numbers.

Batman

Robin, Wonder Woman…I need backup at Arkham Asylum.

Robin (V.O)

Got it.

The scene cuts to Amazonia. A half cheetah half woman stands across a woman wearing red chestplate, a golden tiara, bracelets, and star spangled tights, with black hair. Cheetah tackles Wonder Woman, getting on top of her and then behind her. Wonder Woman dodges a left claw, right claw, and a leg sweep by Cheetah. Wonder Woman’s bracelets protect her from two more of Cheetah’s claw swipes, allowing her to deliver a headbutt that dazes Cheetah. Cheetah makes a cat noise before the two charge at each other again. Wonder Woman dodges a left claw, right claw. Wonder Woman hits an elbow to Cheetah’s gut causing Cheetah to back away. Wonder Woman’s bracelets protect her from two more of Cheetah’s claw swipes.

Wonder Woman

You’ve improved but you haven’t beaten me yet.

Cheetah scratches Wonder Woman’s left cheek. Wonder Woman spins around and hits a punch to Cheetah’s face that sends Cheetah flying back.

Wonder Woman

And you won’t now.

Wonder Woman’s phone rings, she picks it up, she is face to face with Cheetah while she is on the phone.

Wonder Woman (on the phone)

I’ll be there soon.

Cheetah tilts her head curiously. The scene cuts black before showing Cheetah tied up in the Lasso of Truth, the scene fades back to Arkham Asylum.

Batman

Over and out.

Joker I

Got two old friends coming to the party? It’s a shame that we have to leave without saying hello. I’m sure Robin will be surprised to see you.

Fay Moffit, better known as Lady Spellbinder, walks up to Batman and removes his golden utility belt. Lady Spellbinder hands the golden utility belt to Edward Nygma.

Joker II

FREE! YOU’RE ALL FREE!

The Joker leans over Batman.

Joker II

ALL YOUR HARD WORK, UNDONE IN A FRENZY!

Kite Man, The Mad Hatter, Antony Diego, Poison Ivy, Dr Freeze, Doctor Langstrom, Warren Lawford, Gunther Hardwick, Armand Lydecker, Zedno, Clayface, Fay Moffit, Maxie Zeus, Edward Nygma, Harley Quinn, and the three Jokers leave Arkham Asylum. The scene fades to black before fading to Robin arriving at Arkham Asylum by motorcycle as Wonder Woman arrives by invisible jet. Robin and Wonder Woman run into Arkham Asylum, soon enough they are helping up Batman to his feet from the rubble of the brick wall that he was thrown through.

Wonder Woman

You throw out your lower back?

Batman

GIVE AN OLD MAN A BREAK!

Batman (V.O)

I can’t be the Batman with a broken back…WHILE THE JOKER RUNS FREE! FREE…THEY’RE FREEZE……ALL OF THEM…except one.

Batman looks down at The Mad Hatter, a bullet hole goes right through his purple coat and through his green sweater.

Summer Gleeson (V.O)

Tonight, These patients may resent past treatment at the hands of wardens, orderlies, the police, prosecutors, judges, parents, and the one common link shared by most if not all former inmates at Arkham Asylum…the Batman. If I were Batman, I would view this mass escape as my worst nightmare come true….

Batman (V.O)

Resent me all you want, but I am Batman, don’t forget it. You resent Batman, not Bruce Wayne, and soon a new Batman will rise.

The scene fades to black.
